Kutztown Festival Quilts

This is a new blog....still being constructed....ummmm...I've never done a blog, so bear with me!

The Kutztown Festival hosts one of the most exciting quilt auctions in the country. Each year quilters from the region of southeastern PA submit their quilts into our competition. There are anywhere from 1500-2200 quilts submitted each year. Judges select the top 24 quilts (bed size) out of all of the quilts submitted. On the second Saturday of the festival an auction takes places. In past years quilts have brought $3000, $7000, up to $15,500 (prices vary).

Let's talk...what do you want to share/know?

We will be sharing excerpt from our Festival Quilt Newsletter!

  1. How do I go about entering a quilt for judging? It's a little intimidating, but I'm a relatively new quilter and I'd love to be involved with this!

  2. Hey Robin...thanks for your post! It's very simple. Go to the festival web site, www.kutztownfestival.com and request an application packet. It will give you information on the requirements. If you belong to a quilt guild, I would be happy to come speak to you organization. Contact me at kutztownfestivalquilts@gmail.com and I will arrange to send you information!

  3. Congratulations on your blog. I am a former fiber artist who designed wall hangings and quilts for years. Unfortunately I don't like to sew, so I have given this work up. However, I have a huge selection of fabric that I would still like to turn into quilts. If I could team up with a person who doesn't care about design but does like to sew we might be able to have some fun and make some money at the same time together.

  4. Robin, we have become faithful attendees at the quilt barn. What is the earliest we can view and purchase quilts as ordinary gate attendees?

  5. I visited the Kutztown Festival for the first time this year with my quilting buddies. I was amazed at the display of quilts...the most quilts I've ever seen in one place! How can I acquire a Quilters Packet to learn the procedure to display quilts at the festival? I e-mailed dave@kutztownfestival and the e-mail bounced back. Thank you.
